Elder Law

Elder law is a diverse area of practice that focuses on the special legal needs and problems encountered by Seniors. At Cripps & Simmons, L.L.C., we can assist Seniors and their family members who are trying to understand and cope with these problems.

Sometimes Seniors just need some assistance with their daily living activities. For others, it may be necessary to consider alternative living arrangements. Often Seniors may not have the financial ability to pay for the services they need or desire. At other times, Seniors may become incapable of making good decisions about their care and personal finances, thus endangering their health, welfare and livelihood.

Services that we provide include Medicaid eligibility planning assistance, general durable powers of attorney, health care powers of attorney, long term care issues, and estate planning. We strive to educate our clients as to the different financial assistance programs available, how they interact, how eligibility is determined, and what types of asset protection can legally be implemented. But we don’t stop there. We believe it is important to Seniors to be sure all of their affairs are in order, including their estate planning, in the event of their incapacity and at their death, and we are available to assist with related issues following the death or incapacity of a loved one.
